About the Author

Paul White is a highly regarded sports historian who brings to life the exploits of the biggest names in the world of hockey with stories spanning the decades of the history of the National Hockey League. He has brought to the pages of books, magazines and the internet the hockey careers of many legendary Hall of Famers such as "Rocket" Richard and Jean Beliveau as well as the stars of today's hockey world such as Pittsburgh Penguin superstar Sidney Crosby and the New York Rangers' marquee player Brad Richards to his readers. But Paul does not solely write about the stars of this great game. He has spent years collecting research about hockey players who seldom played on their team's power play or made an all-star team. After all, it takes more than a couple of star players to make a team. Every player from the 3rd and 4th lines to 6th and 7th defenseman has a story that should be told. How they made it to the bright lights of the NHL is often more interesting than the tale of the "Can't Miss" superstar! Paul White is also known widely for his expertise in the world of sports card collecting. He was a confirmed hobbyist from the early years of his youth amassing a collection of hockey cards dating from the 1950s to date. For the last 25 years he has been active as a sports card vendor. White has owned or partnered in four sports card stores and in the intervening time he has been an active participant at sports card shows. In the pages of this book he will share with you his knowledge about sports cards to help you further enjoy this great hobby. Paul White is a long-time member of SIHR (Society of International Hockey Research). White has written four books about hockey, and many magazine, newspaper and articles about the fastest game on ice. He has a passion for junior hockey and as a former goalie he just can't resist collecting unique hockey cards featuring goaltenders.
